FROG DREAMS, a buddy road trip drama, explores the effects of the current recession on two men. Jim is a coke addicted, fund manager who just lost his job and millions in the recession. Mickey is the man-with-a-van mover Jim hires to help him transport his file boxes to storage in Pennsylvania. The two become unlikely friends and help each other gain a newly-found perspective in their struggle to recover their lives and their manhood.
First time director, Daniel Jordano, based the film on his own experiences, of losing his job and working as a man with a van in New York City.
“I was consistently struck with how many men were struggling with these issues and at the same time, how desperate they were to hide their struggles from others.” says Jordano. The friendlessness and isolation of men compelled me to tell this story”
Jordano, the son of Cuban immigrants, shot his film on an impossible micro-budget of $5000. “Yes”, said Jordano, “the film was impacted by the economy - what isn’t? - but at the heart is a universal story of survival and male friendship.”
