California Southern University is pleased to announce that it is now accepting U.S. Military Tuition Assistance for its accredited online degree programs in psychology, business, and law. The Tuition Assistance program may provide 100-percent, up-front tuition for courses taken by active-duty personnel in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Army Reserves, and Army National Guard.

CalSouthern is also approved by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) to offer military education programs to veterans who qualify for Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits (Chapter 31), Post 9/11 GI Bill Benefits (Chapter 33), and VA Benefits (Chapters 30, 32, 35, 1606, and 1607).

“CalSouthern is honored and privileged to help both active-duty service members and veterans achieve their educational goals,” says University President Dr. Caroll Ryan. “We’re extremely grateful for and appreciative of our military members’ service, and will work diligently with them to find the academic programs that are best-suited to their needs and to provide them with one-on-one support and guidance to ensure that they successfully complete the program.”

As part of its commitment to military education, CalSouthern has named Patrick Arciniega Education Coordinator. From a family with a proud military tradition, Arciniega served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Arciniega is as passionate about education as he is about the military, and holds a BBA with an emphasis in management information systems and an MBA with an emphasis in leadership. He has eight years of experience in higher education, primarily helping service members and veterans understand and take advantage of their education benefits.

“I look forward to continuing to serve those who serve us,” says Arciniega, “and I am happy to represent a university that’s so dedicated to providing the highest-quality education and meeting the unique educational needs of military personnel. It’s my goal to introduce them to the outstanding programs offered at CalSouthern, make them aware of the wide variety of benefits available to them and, ultimately, to improve the lives of as many service members as possible.”

A team of representatives will introduce CalSouthern’s military education program at the Council of College and Military Educators 2011 Annual Symposium. The Symposium—a gathering of more than 1,000 military educators and decision makers, as well as representatives from civilian universities and other education providers—is the largest event of its kind, a key forum for exchanging information and ideas to enhance education opportunities for service members and their families, and the ideal venue for introducing CalSouthern to the military.

Founded in 1978, California Southern University is a premier, accredited online university offering degree programs at the Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels in business, law and psychology to an international student body, utilizing a proprietary online learning system.
