The self titled EP from Transitshop showcases a diverse offering from this energetic band.

Big catchy hooks and hard driving melodic rhythms only begin to describe this new release from the Philadelphia Pennsylvania based outfit Transitshop. A totally unique combination of electronica, pop, and just plain old ass-kicking alternative rock is on display in the band’s debut release.

Transitshop is the latest project from Philadelphia based musician and producer, Chris O’Brien. Although O’Brien is the band’s undisputed leader he is accompanied on the journey by two other rock steady musicians, bassist Steve Essinger, and Todd Butler on drums. The two provide the killer rhythm section to O’Brien’s guitar work, synth, and distinctive vocals.

The self titled EP from Transitshop showcases a diverse offering from this energetic band. One might be hesitant to categorize this act and their new EP in any particular genre. The wide range of song styles from hard driving alternative rock to electronica and pop only further displays the band’s unique and diversified sound. And how does O’Brien feel Transitshop fits into the indie alternative rock scene? “Our music has a cool rhythmic edge to it and provides unique melodies, fresh energy, and a feel-good vibe throughout every song. I think it could be classified into a few different genres, but best fits into the alternative/electronic realm.”

This is especially evident on such standout tracks as “In Out” and “Good Fortune”. O’Brien’s unique signature vocals swim on top of music that easily shifts from hard driving electronic rhythms to a more playful melodic rock sound with no apparent ambiguity in determining that this is unquestionably Transitshop throughout the record.

Transitshop tours regularly in support of the new record. Opening track “Irony Kills” has proven to be a fan favorite at the band’s highly energetic live shows.
