During my four years at Johns Hopkins, I have had a great opportunity to sample some of Baltimore's best restaurants as well as many that are off the beaten path.

Baltimore has always been known for great restaurants. Now there is a way to get trusted information about many of those restaurants and the city's food scene. The Baltimore Food Rag, a new blog at http://www.baltimorefoodrag.wordpress.com was recently started by Elizabeth Laseter, a senior at Johns Hopkins University. The most recent post features Baltimore Restaurant Week.
"My parents took me to a two-star Michelin restaurant in France when I was 12 and got me hooked on great food," said Laseter. "The dinner started around eight and we didn't leave until 1:00 am, after saying no to the final course of fromage selections." Laseter continued, "Over the last four years, I have had a great opportunity to sample some of Baltimore's best restaurants, as well as many that are off the beaten path. The Baltimore Food Rag allows me an opportunity to share my food experiences with others."
Laseter was on the staff of the Hopkins student newspaper her sophomore year as a restaurant reviewer. She has also completed internships at the Charleston SC Post and Courier and Baltimore Magazine, where she focused on restaurants and entertainment.
"I hope to attend L'Academie de Cuisine next year to expand my knowledge of food. After that, I would like to continue writing about food in the Baltimore/DC area for a publication," Laseter said.
Laseter is pursuing a double major in writing and art history at Johns Hopkins. Between her studies and visiting Baltimore's restaurants, she runs on the Johns Hopkins cross-country and track teams.
