These types of projects give APR not only the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our neighbors, but also allow us to contribute to a community when we see an unmet need there.

As part of APR Energy’s (APR) ongoing mission to give back to the communities where its power plants are located, APR recently renovated Santa Elena High School located in Santa Elena, Ecuador to improve the conditions for the teachers and students. APR relocated electrical poles, installed a water pump to provide a clean water supply, constructed a water cistern for bathrooms, made sewer system repairs and repainted of the interior and exterior of the school.
Most of the work at the school of 1005 students was performed by employees from APR Energy’s nearby temporary power plant in Santa Elena who volunteered their time to assist in the renovation. In addition to the renovation project, a dedication ceremony was held where the principal of Santa Elena High School, Luisa Yagual presented APR Energy Power Plant Manager Charlie Mac Donald, a plaque to show her appreciation for the service to the school.
“These types of projects give APR not only the opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our neighbors, but also allow us to contribute to a community when we see an unmet need there,” said APR Energy Vice President for Latin America, Tirso Selman. The renovation project is part of APR Energy’s Community Development Program, which aims to find ways to support the communities that surround its power projects, focusing on the fields of education and health.
APR Energy’s 75MW Santa Elena power plant has been operational since early 2010, providing electricity to the local electrical utility company, the Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador.
