Harbor Retirement Associates announced today that HarborChase of Tallahassee was awarded Community of the Year for 2010. HarborChase of Tallahassee associate Linda England was honored for Sales Director of the Year and Angel Hardee for Outstanding Coach.

HarborChase of Tallahassee was recently recognized as Community of the Year by Harbor Retirement Associates, a Vero Beach owned and operated Senior Living corporation. The Leadership Awards Ceremony was held at Costa d’Este Hotel in Vero Beach.

HarborChase of Tallahassee offers seniors and their families a spectrum of services from Assisted Living to Memory Care in a loving and safe environment. When asked why she felt her community achieved the stellar recognition, Executive Director Vicki Bell answers quickly. “Our Associates. Every individual shares their God-given gifts with our residents on a daily basis. Our team has created a community where seniors want to live, and where families can be confident that their loved ones are cherished and appreciated.”

The idea for the awards presentation evolved from a motivation to highlight the remarkable achievements of team members at every level in the company. COO Marc Vorkapich says “We wanted to establish a tradition in the company where associates are recognized for their commitment and devotion to our residents.” The categories ranged from Community of the Year to Most Valuable Player, which included cooks, housekeepers, sales associates and drivers from the various communities. The criteria for Community of the Year covered an array of elements including feedback from residents and families and fiscal objectives.

Tallahassee also had two associates presented with awards as well. Linda England took home Sales Director of the Year, while Outstanding Coach went to Director of Memory Care Angel Hardee. Angel, who works closely with families navigating the emotional challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia, feels that she was called to her profession. She adds, “Winning this award was an honor, and it’s nice to be recognized. However, my fulfillment stems from working closely with our residents and watching them engage in the joys of life.”

HRA manages 17 communities across the country and employs over 1,000 professionals. In a business climate where technology advances often trump face-to-face relationships, HRA is changing the rules.

Human Resources Vice President Dan Holloway says, “Although recognizing associates via social media or teleconferencing has become popular due to its efficiency, the opportunity to be with our associates and interact with them proved invaluable.”

Marc Vorkapich concludes, “Our associates in Tallahassee and beyond embody HRA’s Core Values daily by devoting themselves to the health, care and well-being of our residents and their families. It was a great honor to express our appreciation for their dedication, and we’re already looking forward to supporting their achievements in the coming year.”
