This week Michael Madsen of Reservoir Dogs, Donnie Brasco and Kill Bill fame is exploding onto the set of Amsterdam Heavy, shooting in Amsterdam on February 18th. Madsen, who is known for taking sadistic roles in Reservoir Dogs, and Kill Bill is making a special appearance playing an CIA agent in the film that is already catching the attention of Amsterdam.
Funny How Films and The Content Factory in association with Paradigm Pictures have teamed up to make this one of a kind international action film. Paradigm Pictures owners and co-producers of Amsterdam Heavy, Bas Boon and Frederico Lapenda, and pioneers of mixed martial arts (MMA), secured Michael Madsen for the role earlier this month. Boon and Lapenda are known for their award winning film Bad Guys (Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Producer) at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and recently Blonde and Blonder starring Denise Richards and Pamela Anderson.
Director Michael Wright is bringing his screenplay to life in an unparalleled film filled with dark characters and a plot that keeps thickening. “Having Madsen in the film really characterizes the grittiness and dark humor that is throughout the film“, says director Michael Wright.
Amsterdam Heavy is an action-fueled story of one man’s relentless quest for revenge, as, against all the odds, he smuggles himself back from Bangkok to his home city, arriving with nothing but his fists and a burning desire for retribution.
The movie takes us on a roller-coaster journey into the violent, criminal heart of Amsterdam, with diverse characters, fast set pieces, a streak of dark humour, and a twist that opens up rich sequel opportunities.
Amsterdam Heavy is scheduled to premiere in Cannes, France during May 2011.
