Oscar fever has spread to the world of non-profit fundraising. Autograph Store Charity Fundraising announced today it plans to give away five rare pieces of Oscar-winner-autographed memorabilia to a few trivia-savvy Facebook fans next week. The group hopes the buzz surrounding this Facebook-based trivia contest will translate into buzz for the charitable organizations they support.
Although Autograph Store Charity Fundraising’s mission is to provide charities with a broad scope of fundraising ideas, the organization’s roots in the celebrity-autographed memorabilia industry irrevocably ties it to The Academy Awards. Primarily offering autographed auction items from the entertainment, music and sports industries, Autograph Store Charity Fundraising offers non-profits items signed by dozens of Oscar winners, from Hollywood’s golden age and today.

Although next week’s prizes are typically used in charity auctions as fundraising items for non-profits around the globe, contest organizers are excited to get these rare items into the hands of a few diehard Oscar fans. Each day’s prize will be announced a few minutes before the trivia question is posted, but they will include autographs from such Oscar winners as Heath Ledger and Audrey Hepburn, as well as the casts of such classic Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated films as “Titanic,” “Taxi Driver” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”
“We always look forward to events like the Oscars because they tell us a lot about what’s going on in the entertainment industry,” Nurse said. “It’s important that a team like ours stays on top of what movie-related fundraising ideas are hot, so we have a better understanding of what will be successful for our charity partners. The Academy Awards is an important research component for us to better support our partners’ auction strategies.”
