USA Rugby League (USARL) Announces Board of Directors, Key Positions, Schedule and Additional Information

The USARL (http://www.usarugbyleague.com) announces its Board of Directors and key personnel, including former international great Tawera Nikau. The USARL also announced its schedule, which will comprise of eight regular season matches and culminate in a National Championship Game in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 27, 2011.

The USA Rugby League (http://www.usarugbyleague.com), which will hold its inaugural season beginning May 28-29, 2011, has announced its Board of Directors, Key Personnel, Schedule and Additional Information.

On January 29, 2011 the first official meeting of the USARL was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the ratification of a league Constitution and the selection of the first Board of Directors was confirmed. The newly-formed Board wasted no time in electing officers and highlighting areas for improved club operations and ideas for the progression of Rugby League in the United States of America.

The USARL Board of Directors includes Peter Illfield (USARL Chairman, Philadelphia Fight), Ryan McGough (USARL CEO, Philadelphia Fight), Spinner Howland (PR & Football Operations, Jacksonville Axemen), Adam Hamon (Director of Marketing, New Haven Warriors), Mikhael Shammas (Coaching and Development, Rules/Bylaws, Boston 13s), Rich Luthmann (USARL Secretary and General Counsel, Rhode Island Rebellion), Richard Nolte (USARL Treasurer and Finance Director, DC Slayers), Asa Jearld (DC Slayers), and Justin Wieland (Oneida FC).

The USARL have named several important consultants to the Board including Steve Williams (Website Director-Marketing Consultant, All Web Café), Drew Slover (Marketing Consultant, Slover Consulting), David Weyburn (Marketing Consultant, Haka Sports Management), Tony Feasey (Haka Sports Management) and Tawera Nikau (Haka Sports Management).

The USARL Referees Association is in the process of formation and will be operational before the start of the season. Additionally, the USARL Constitution calls for a Supreme Court to monitor all facets of the rules and games. The head of the USARL Referees Association will chair the court.

The USARL has also announced its 2011 Schedule, with each team playing eight (8) games. The regular season begins on June 4 and continues until August 6, with a bye week on July 4th weekend. The USARL Semi final playoffs are slated for August 13 and the the inaugural USARL National Championship Game is August 27, 2011, hosted by the Philadelphia Fight, in Conshohocken, PA

The USARL Website is set for launch in mid-March 2011. The full USARL Business Plan, Marketing Plan and Coaching and Development Plans are in the final stages of preparation and will be in place before the start of the season.
