Millstone Township, NJ (PRWEB) February 21, 2011
Pharmacy Learning Network® (PLN), a division of North American Center for Continuing Medical Education (NACCME) dedicated to the continuing professional development of hospital pharmacists, and VHATV, the largest hospital-based satellite television network in the country, announce the simulcast of live PLN programming on VHATV.
PLN® is the leading provider of current, quality, learner-driven, hospital pharmacy education, through its series of one- and two-day live educational conferences. Expert faculty lead a mix of therapeutically-driven and practice-based sessions across an array of clinical areas.
“Together, PLN and VHATV will extend the live learning experience to thousands more learners in underserved areas, while meeting the demands for web-based activities and higher level outcomes assessment in continuing pharmacy education,” states Stephen Chavez, Senior Director, NACCME.
Now in its 24th year, VHATV programs reach the hospitals, physicians and other clinicians of the VHA alliance of 1400 acute care health systems, making it the largest hospital-based satellite network in the country, and reaching over 6600 organizations.
Mark A. Munger, PharmD, PLN Advisory Board Faculty Member and Professor of Pharmacotherapy and Internal Medicine at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy says, “The rural community represents approximately 25% of the United States population. These communities have a greater percentage of older persons and as a result, use a proportionally higher amount of drug therapy. Additionally, the ratio of pharmacists in rural areas is 66/100,000 persons compared to 78/100,000 overall. These important demographics make the PLN-VHATV plan an important contribution to extending continuing education to the health care community very much in need of these timely updates.”
PLN® cities for 2011 include Phoenix, Houston, Boston, Atlanta, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Miami. Visit http://www.pharmacylearningnetwork.com for registration and sponsorship details.
