Last year, LAWEBFEST screened 50 web series; this year, Executive Director Michael Ajakwe says that total will double. “We plan to showcase as many quality web series as we can during those three days in March. We are getting submissions from everywhere-- half of the 50 United States, as well as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, the U.K., Italy and France,” the Los Angeles native and University of Redlands graduate shared. “We see the good, the bad and the ‘what the hell?’ And I am happy to report that a good portion of these micro-shows are very engaging and well-made.”

The Los Angeles Web Series Festival (better-known-as LAWEBFEST) recently accepted a second wave of early entries to what remains the only all-web series festival in the world. The festival also extended its Final Submission Deadline by four days to Friday, February 25th.

As for the 30 new shows to make it into the fest, seven are from 4 different countries with the remaining 23 shows representing 9 different states. California had the most second round early entries with 13, followed by New York with three and Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom with two each.

Last year, LAWEBFEST screened 50 web series; this year, Ajakwe says that total will double. “We plan to showcase as many quality web series as we can over those three days. We don't care where they're from or how big or small their budgets were. If we find the show compelling, we'll showcase a few episodes," the Los Angeles native and University of Redlands graduate said. "We see the good, the bad and the ‘what the hell?’ And I am happy to report that a good portion of these shows are very engaging and well-made. I wish we could accept all of them.”

On the last night of the festival, during the awards ceremony, Ajakwe says over 100 distinctions recognizing outstanding achievement will be handed out in 70 different categories. The biggest prize— an all-expense trip to France to screen your web series at the Marseille Webfest—will be awarded to 6 lucky LAWEBFEST entries. "Jean-Michel Albert himself, the head of Europe's first all-web series festival, the Marseille Webfest, will be at our awards ceremony to personally announce which six web series from LAWEBFEST will play at his festival. It's going to be a very exciting evening," said Ajakwe, who's also a veteran TV writer-producer of such hit shows as "Martin", "Sister Sister" and currently the cable TV comedy "Love That Girl" and acclaimed music documentary series "Unsung".

The Final Deadline to submit your web series to LAWEBFEST is Friday, February 25th. Final notifications of shows accepted into LAWEBFEST 2011 will be made on or by March 1. For more details or to enter your web series for consideration, visit http://www.lawebfest.com.
