Chief Learning Officer to Present on Emerging Learning Technologies in Online Higher Education

Deltak, an industry leader in online higher education services, will be exhibiting and presenting at the 40th Annual Meeting of the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools in Huntsville, Alabama, February 24-27, 2011. Deltak’s Chief Learning Officer Rob Schnieders will be presenting on trends and emerging learning technologies for online master’s programs from 12:00pm-1:15pm during Friday’s lunch and networking session.

Members of the CSGS include over 200 respected institutions in the southern United States. Representatives convene every year to share ideas and discuss challenges of shared interest within the higher education world.

“Online education is expanding rapidly,” said Schnieders. “Over 30% of students took at least one online course in 2009, and it’s expected that this number will grow to 50% in 2014. The next chapter of online education will be all about demonstrating efficacy and impact. The real question now should be, “How do we make online learning great?” By leveraging new technologies and instructional techniques we can ensure that online education yields outstanding learning outcomes.”

Schnieders presentation is based on his newest white paper, “The Evolution of Online Learning: Incorporating and Building Social Presence to Create Engaging Online Learning Experiences”. The second in a series of white papers focused on emerging technologies and innovation in online learning, this paper discusses research on the topic of social presence as well as technologies Deltak and its partner schools are employing to create more engaging learning experiences for online students.
