NYC’s Press Restaurant celebrates one year anniversary in the marketplace and salutes their Big Apple fan base.

This past Valentine’s Day, commuters to New York’s Flatiron District were greeted with chocolate hearts and warm smiles as Press Restaurant staff members rang in their first anniversary of being open for business. Cheery “Happy Valentine’s Day” wishes and bright red foil covered hearts made even the most cantankerous of commuters stop and even return the well wishes on an otherwise manic Monday morning.

But for business partners Gil Gibli and Jimmy Shabtay, February 14th was more than just sweetheart’s day. It was a day to be grateful to the many customers who helped Press Restaurant blossom and flourish through its first 365 days of business. And in a fickle economy, that’s something to celebrate.

Located at 34 East 23rd Street in New York, the restaurant offers incredibly fresh wraps, salads and delicious soups, and most importantly, each wrap is made from scratch in front of the customer while they order. From selecting the dough they prefer, to watching the dough be pressed and grilled and then stuffed with a wonderful array of ingredients to tempt any pallet. The experience of watching the preparation of the food is almost as pleasant as eating it! The menu offers something for everyone, from vegetarian selections to the Black Angus Burger or Steak Wraps. What makes Press the most fun (aside from watching a tiny round ball of dough transform into a fabulous wrap) is the unending combinations customers can have with six different selections of dough, nine different wrap flavors, eight specialty sauces, and well over a dozen different vegetables for fillers.

The inspiration for Press came from a restaurant concept that the two partners visited while on vacation visiting friends overseas. “We felt it would be a perfect fit for Manhattan,” explained Gil Gibli, “We even brought over one of the chefs to help develop the menu and kick off the concept here. It was the greatest compliment when our friends came to New York to visit us last year and claimed we were even tastier than the original restuarant.” Judging by the popularity of Press, one would estimate many others share in that sentiment.
