Omaha, NE (PRWEB) February 23, 2011
In an effort to ensure quality, ethics- and community-based education for children in Catholic schools from kindergarten to high school, Creighton University has established a scholarship to support doctoral candidates in the University’s new online Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership program. The Presidential Scholarship for Catholic Educational Leadership recognizes the value of a Catholic education, as well as the need for effective leaders to guide Catholic schools in the 21st century.
The competitive scholarship covers half the tuition for the program and is renewable. Applicants must currently be working full-time in K-12 Catholic school education. Applicants should address their commitment to Catholic educational leadership in the personal statement that is a required part of their application to the doctoral program. The Educational Leadership committee will evaluate the applicants and arrange for phone interviews with those who meet the scholarship criteria. Two scholarships will be awarded to students in each group starting the doctoral program in January and August 2011.
Creighton’s online Doctor of Education in Leadership is an innovative and interdisciplinary program designed to train students to design and implement changes and initiatives that benefit their organizations as well as society as a whole. Students study self-reflection as a tool for growth and develop a concept of leadership that is rooted in faith, justice and ethics. Students also study more traditional topics such as effective communication techniques, integrating new technology and applying organizational and change theory to the workplace.
