Communications software developer VideoPort LLC is happy to announce the immediate availability of the updated version of the company’s flagship software video conferencing server VCS 3.1.2.

Delivering a low-bitrate, High Definition video conferencing solution to businesses, governments and organizations seeking to bridge distances between remote personnel and satellite offices, VCS 3.1.2 also features ability to join a group conference by calling its owner directly from the address bar, automatic termination of a user’s video session after they are switched off in the configurator, automated process of purchasing a complete server license from the configurator and an e-mail notification system to remind about the trial period expiration.

With built-in features that include chat, file transfer, whiteboard, desktop sharing, and PowerPoint slide show, VCS 3.1.2 enables on-screen connections of up to 16 participants, and lecture-mode conferences that can connect up to 100 simultaneous participants.

“VCS 3.1.2 offers a complete set of video conferencing features in an integrated solution while remaining easy to set up and maintain,” says VideoPort CEO Alex Vlaskin. “Our key advantage is that we deliver HD quality without requiring expensive specialized hardware – the VCS 3.1.2 software can be installed on a company’s existing computer.”

VCS 3.1.2 video conferences can be recorded to AVI format for later distribution or archival purposes. VCS 3.1.2 also integrates with existing h.323/SIP hardware via a software gateway, an ideal solution for companies wishing to leverage video conferencing hardware without high costs.

“To stay ahead of the rapidly evolving industry, VCS 3.1.2 utilizes Google’s high-performance VP8 video codec,” says Vlaskin. “With VP8, we have achieved a four-fold increase in video quality without increasing bandwidth requirements. Now symmetric conference participants can conduct business in HD 720p.”

The worldwide video conferencing market is estimated at $3.5 billion and is growing substantially. Software video conferencing systems already hold 23% of the market and are growing faster than the market as a whole. VCS 3.1.2 is positioned as a key product in the $60 million Russian video conferencing market and is expanding internationally.

A VideoPort VCS solution featuring HD video and a wide range of features can be licensed starting at $2,995.
