25th Annual ATSNJ Conference set to offer the latest science and practical applications to those who care for student athletes

As part of an ongoing effort to reduce the catastrophic athletic injuries and illnesses among athletes in New Jersey, the Athletic Trainers’ Society of New Jersey (ATSNJ) has invited leading experts to discuss medical issues affecting today’s athletes at its 25th Annual Athletic Training Conference. Recent studies point to a significant increase in catastrophic injuries resulting in death or permanent disability. In the past two years alone, over 115 sports-related deaths occurred in 33 states. The conference is designed to offer the latest in science and practical application to licensed athletic trainers who care for student athletes across New Jersey.

The distinguished list of speakers includes Christine Lawless, MD, the only physician in the United States to be dual certified in cardiology and sports medicine. Dr. Lawless will discuss sudden cardiac death and how it is affecting today’s young athletes. Dr. Lawless is just one of several nationally and regionally renowned medical experts that have been invited to address the identification, emergency planning, and management of catastrophic athletic injuries.

Reporters are invited to attend the conference and ask questions to the panel of experts.
