Les Routiers has awarded "Wine Bar of the Year 2011" to Mitchells Wine Bar & Brasserie in Tattenhall, Cheshire.

Local business owners Martin and Peterene Cocking are celebrating having recently been awarded “Wine Bar of the Year 2011” by Les Routiers.

The couple have run Mitchells Wine bar & Brasserie in Tattenhall for just over 6 years, and are understandably thrilled at their success. “It is a great boost to the business, during what has been a difficult time for the hospitality industry in general,” Martin explained. “It is brilliant when someone comes along and recognises the hard work you put in day by day.”

Mitchells is situated on the High Street in Tattenhall serving fresh food with a selection of quality wines along side it.

Peterene believes that one of the reasons for collecting the award could be the popular “World Cup of Wine Evenings” they run. She said “these evenings have a great following, people really love them. We serve different wines from all different countries with a three course dinner, and turn it into a fun World Cup—but for wines. We make the evenings fun and great value.”

A spokesperson for Les Routiers said “We congratulate them on their outstanding hospitality service performance in the last year.”

Formerly the couple received many awards while running the Fox and Barrel near Tarporley, including a National “Best Pub of the Year Award” in 2000.

Mitchells also specialise in “wine makers” dinners. With these they invite wine makers from all over the world to attend a dinner, and match the wines from the vineyard to Mitchells food. The wine maker then speaks about the wines during dinner.
