New AireBeam Z60 reaches 635 Mbps full-duplex Ethernet throughput in unlicensed 59...63 GHz frequency band

LightPointe, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-speed outdoor wireless point-to-point bridging solutions, will demonstrate a ETSI compliant 60 GHz MMW wave radio solution at the CeBIT show in Hannover.

The AireBeam Z60 operates in the frequency band from 59…63 GHz and is available for unlicensed operation in several European countries including Germany, Austria and Switzerland. For connecting to the network, the AireBeam Z60 provides both a hot-swappable GbE SFP optical fiber port and a GigE RJ-45 port. Powered by either a Cat5/6 Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) connection or by using a low voltage 48 Vdc power feed, the Z60 supports an Ethernet based management system for SNMP v1/2c support, comes with an integrated Web browser agent, and offers advanced features like a signal strength bar graph LED and flexible mounting options, allowing for no-hassle installation and alignment. An integrated Layer 2 switch can be programmed by the user to provide path redundancy.

With its ultra-high bandwidth and latency comparable to fiber optic cable, the AireBeam Z60 targets a rapidly increasing number of short to medium distance, high-capacity, outdoor wireless networking applications in the Enterprise Campus, Metro Ethernet, and 3G/4G Mobile Wireless Network market segments. Enterprises and service providers, operating high-capacity networks, commonly face enormous challenges when trying to interconnect buildings or remote locations that have no fiber access and/or where laying fiber simply takes too long and is cost prohibitive.

The AireBeam Z60 system is shown at the Pan Dacom booth in Hall 13, Booth C38 and at the Laser2000 booth in Hall 13, Booth B14.
