San Cristobal Academy has developed a unique partnership with University of New Mexico. As partners, UNM will be able to provide college level education to all residents enrolled at San Cristobal Academy. This offering is specially designed to give the young adult men in the program the experience of succeeding educationally, while living the healthy lifestyle.
Also, the University of New Mexico has granted accreditation to multiple San Cristobal Academy program offerings. In short, clients can earn college level credit towards their degree by participating in daily addiction treatment activities.
Maintaining sobriety in college after completing a treatment program can be overwhelming. With this partnership clients will be able to develop the skills needed to succeed in college while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
For clients who have not yet completed their high school diploma, the University of New Mexico will now be managing our entire educational offerings. “The University staff will be overseeing and conducting on-site educational services, including student evaluations, testing, student tutoring, and classes. Students will be able to graduate from high school with a diploma from the State of New Mexico eliminating the stigma of having a GED certificate," explains CEO and Owner of San Cristobal Academy, Dave Johnson.
“As a former teacher, I know how important it is for young adults to finish and complete their education, being in recovery,' continues Johnson. "I know firsthand that without a solid foundation of sobriety built before a young man returns to college he is being setup to fail.” San Cristobal’s educational track builds this foundation.
