Geneva International Motor Show, Switzerland (PRWEB) March 1, 2011 -- EVida Power, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs, has signed an agreement worth over US $250 million with German and French electric vehicle manufacturer Mia Electric, to provide all of its 8 kWh battery packs for three new vehicle models until 2016.

The five-year contract will see the company supply up to 10,000 units per year to power Mia’s zero-emission three and four-seater Mia town car (named Mia and Mia L), and its utility vehicle which features a 1,500-litre cargo volume. The EVida 8 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack will provide the ultra-modern and light-weight vehicles with a range of between 80 and 90 km per charge in urban cycle, and can be fully recharged in less than three hours when connected to a standard 220V power supply. The battery pack can also be fast charged with a 10-minutes rapid-charge providing an extra 8 km of range.

Mia has initiated pre-sales of its vehicles to municipal and corporate fleet operators in France and Germany, including the regional utility organisation, STAWAG Stadtwerke Aachen AG and the Nuremberg-based NRGIE. Initial delivery of the Mia town cars will begin from 1 June 2011.

EVida has worked closely with Mia Electric’s design and production teams in Cerizay, France, to provide a customised, complete battery and vehicle integration solution including battery cells, modules, cooling systems, battery management system (BMS) and integrated software tools. Mr. Laurent Buffeteau, Managing Director of Mia Electric, explains, “We appointed EVida based on their ability to provide a flexible, low-cost and high quality battery pack solution tailored to the characteristics of our individual models, coupled with access to unrivalled expertise and a high-level of durability for our customers.”

Commenting on the agreement with Mia Electric, Jonathan Shine, EVida’s Co-Founder and VP of Business Development stated, “We are delighted to be working with an innovative electric vehicle manufacturer such as Mia Electric. The agreement represents a significant milestone in the realization of Evida's vision, and is a testimony to our ‘whole vehicle view’ philosophy in which our technology has been specifically designed in line with the needs of our client, and more importantly this is a solution which is economically viable and sustainable for Mia Electric going forward.”
