Growth of Power Freight Systems' Northern California operations reflects both general economic improvements and an increased customer base.

Power Freight Systems, Inc. (http://www.powerfreight.com) today announces the addition of a 24,000 square foot facility associated with the company’s Newark, CA headquarters. The new warehousing and distribution space is located in the same complex as the company’s existing operations, and is necessary to support the continued growth of 3PL and 4PL services provided to clients in the Northern California market.

The additional space, located at 7447 Morton Avenue in Newark, California, will have the capability to store racked and floor level products in a high security environment, and will be adjacent to the company’s corporate offices.

Malcolm Winspear, President of Power Freight Systems stated, “This latest expansion of our San Francisco Bay Area operations follows a recent space addition acquired in May of 2010, and is a direct result of a strong demand for logistics services over the last 24 months. This is partially reflective of the improving economic environment in California and beyond -- many of our customers have expanded their manufacturing operations as the economy recovers from the 2008 recession -- and partially due to the continued growth of our customer base.”

The additional distribution space will bring the company’s total operations space in Newark to 125,000 square feet. And similar to the pre-existing areas, the new square footage is classified as a secured site -- a certified cargo screening facility -- by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the base of operations for bonded transportation services for the company’s Northern California customers.

The bonded carrier status enables Power Freight Systems to handle and transport merchandise received into the United States under CBP regulations as bonded freight, for transport between CBP approved bonded facility locations. It also authorizes Power Freight Systems to transport goods held in bond, to and from locations designated under Department of Homeland Security regulations as a Foreign Trade Zone or Sub-zone.
