Apps to Share HD Videos on Android®, Roku® Digital Player, iPhone®, iPad®, iPod Touch® in Beta

Private streaming creates a better, more intimate sharing experience because you choose who can view and download your files. Friends and family don’t have to sift through all the noise on sites filled with videos uploaded by the general public.

Kadoo, Inc., today announced a new line of cloud-based mobile apps to push high-definition (HD) videos to mobile phones, tablets, and TVs. With this new service, consumers easily connect with friends and family by sharing the important moments of their lives from anywhere. The Kadoo apps work seamlessly across devices and services to privately stream HD videos directly to the devices people prefer to use.

“Sharing is very personal,” notes Kurt Baumann, CEO of Kadoo. “Our vision to make private video sharing easy and accessible is quite simple. Private streaming creates a better, more intimate sharing experience because you choose who can view and download your files. Friends and family don’t have to sift through all the noise on sites filled with videos uploaded by the general public. Our cloud creates a safe environment where people know that if they share within Kadoo, their files are viewable only in Kadoo. Yet, if people choose to share publicly, they can also use Kadoo to email their friends directly, publish publicly to the Internet, and soon post their videos to Facebook.”

“The Roku, Android, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch apps are just the first of several products that are in development for smartphones, tablets, and TVs,” continues Baumann. “Kadoo takes the guesswork out of sharing because our video cloud creates the compatibility needed for these devices and platforms to work together. Consumers are able to upload their videos once and share them anywhere.”

HD Video cameras are in the hands of consumers in record numbers with approximately 30% of American mobile subscribers—more than 63 million people—owning a smartphone by the end of 2010. Seeing the need to create a personal distribution channel for these consumers, Kadoo engaged Mediafly, a leading Internet multimedia delivery platform, to develop apps for the TV and the most popular smartphones and tablets including the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

Mediafly is using Kadoo Backstage™, Kadoo’s open source APIs, to ensure ease of use and compatibility across all devices and platforms. The Kadoo Backstage APIs are available for other developers who want to create apps and services that work across Kadoo’s video cloud. Consumers can register to beta test the Android, Roku, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch apps at http://www.kadoo.com.
