WirelessGuys, Inc. Launches its New HomeFi Solutions Division

WiFi access has become a necessity instead of a luxury. Larger homes, increased use of mobile devices, and the growing popularity of 3G and 4G technology all pose interesting challenges to the prospective wireless customer. Already known for using leading edge technology to make wireless internet access a reality in the commercial wireless solutions market, WirelessGuys is well-positioned for its latest move into the high end residential wireless solutions market.

WirelessGuys, an innovative wireless solutions provider based in Moorpark and Concord, CA, has broadened its scope of network solutions with the addition of its HomeFi Solutions Division. WirelessGuys technician, Lawrence Celis commented on the expansion, relating the details of a recent high-end residential installation. The 6,000 sq. ft. home previously employed a typical wireless solution consisting of a router, modem and wireless adapters. Numerous DIY strategies with limited success prompted the frustrated homeowners to contact WirelessGuys for a more viable solution. Lawrence assessed the immediate need for a solution that would allow wireless access for a variety of Apple laptops, iPads, iPod Touches and iPhone devices known to be "a little bit more particular to WiFi interruption or being disconnected because they are lower power devices" with inherent connectivity problems using "shelf" equipment.

WirelessGuys' ability to design solutions using the right mix of applications and technologies led to the installation of a custom designed WG HomeFi Solution using a WiFi meshing technique. Conventional systems generally consist of one radio with one or two antennas in one device. The WirelessGuys system employs multiple proprietary radios with multiple antennas. The system is unique in that the radios basically form a mesh in which the small routers located throughout the home, talk to each other and all talk to the main router. The mesh system ensures that the coverage is uniform and strong, allowing low power devices to not have to search very far for a strong signal. As Mr. Celis put it, "It's like forming a net around the house. You can touch the net at any part. As long as you touch it, you have a strong connection." Using meshing routers that plug into Wireless adapters eliminated the need for having to run CAT5 cable throughout the home. This dramatically reduced the cost without any significant tradeoff. Wireless Virtual adapters provide complete coverage without the reduction of speed seen with the use of conventional repeaters.

In typical WirelessGuys fashion, the HomeFi Solutions Division offers high-quality and cost effective turnkey solutions for a variety of large scale residential wireless scenarios. "Most customers just want a solution that will work," Lawrence said. "They are not interested in spending time troubleshooting." A particular benefit of the turnkey system is that it is monitored remotely so WirelessGuys typically knows about any problems before the client does. If one unit is offline or accidentally disconnected, WirelessGuys knows immediately and is able to notify the client to plug it back in.

The HomeFi Solutions Division extends WirelessGuys' unwavering commitment and passion for development of unique solutions to their residential clients. The ability to design, install, and remotely maintain the systems, allows their clients to enjoy the benefits of non-intrusive, aesthetically pleasing and highly functional residential solutions.
