Cohuman releases API to developer community and also announces a contest with cash prizes for the creation of applications for the web, mobile devices and the desktop

The public release of an Application Programming Interface (API) to encourage more industry innovation around business productivity was announced today by Cohuman, Inc, the web service that syncs people and teams. Cohuman added further incentives with the announcement of a contest with cash prizes for developers to compete in seven categories such as Best Mobile, Best Email Integration and Best Desktop. The contest runs until April 4th. More details on the new developer community and context can be found at: Cohuman has partnered with Mashery to make the API downloads available.

“Cohuman’s intelligent task management web service offers new revenue opportunities for developers to create compelling solutions for today’s businesses that are struggling mightily with information overload, poor email communications and the challenge of coordinating teams scattered across many geographies,” said Matt Work, CEO and founder of Cohuman. “Cohuman offers a project management solution that is uniquely people-centric because it improves communications, shares documents and prioritizes tasks for individuals and teams to ensure that files, conversations and deadlines are easily accessible.”

With the opening of Cohuman’s API, developers can now get full access to Cohuman’s Intelligent Task management application, the only project management software that provides a task-based web service to coordinate teams, streamline information-sharing and manage projects. Developers can integrate Cohuman with cloud-based services such as Salesforce or Dropbox or with email applications from Microsoft Outlook to Google Mail. They can also create applications for mobile platforms desktop environments and conceive of entirely new visualization add-ons and mashups.

“We’re making our API available to keep up with our customers’ constant demands for more features and functionality,” said Michael Kebbekus, VP of Engineering at Cohuman. “They look to us for solutions to help them cope with their changing workplaces and industries, and many want integration with other cloud-based services, and they want Cohuman to be on the latest mobile devices they are buying. We can’t do it fast enough on our own so we are turning to the developer community and offering to share revenue.”

Cash prizes for the winners in Cohuman’s contest range from $500-$2,000, and include prizes for tweeting about the new Cohuman Paid Partner Program Offering (CP30) that uniquely offers revenue-sharing opportunities for developers when customers sign up for the paid version of Cohuman or when Cohuman customers upgrade from the free version of Cohuman to Cohuman Professional.
