This edition of BioConference Live, which spans two days, includes presentation sessions of interest to life science professionals in Genetics, Genomics, Proteomics, Neurobiology, Social Media & Life Sciences, Autism, Alzheimer's Disease, Industry, Translation to Therapy, Defensive Neuropsychiatric Medicine, Electrochemical Detection, Bioinformatics, and Lab Automation.

On Monday, March 21st beginning at 10:00AM EST, the Social Media & Life Sciences Track will begin. The first speaker Stephen Stofflet Ph.D. from Michigan State University, will be presenting on "Social Networking/Media as a Recruitment Tool for University Science Programs". The next session will be presented by Hamid Ghanadan, the President of The Linus Group - Life Science Marketing, and his topic is "Social Media in Science Marketing: Fad or Function? Dispelling Four Myths and Capitalizing on Three Opportunities". Following Hamid's presentation will be a Panel Session given by three experts in the industry: Tina Baumgartner Ph.D. from the Accella Group, Pamela Lund M.Th. from PL Interactive, and Michael Wu Ph.D. from Lithium Technologies. The Panel Session will address "Social Media and Life Sciences: Why you should care about social media (and what you need to know to get started)". And the final talk within this track will be from Kristy Meyer, the Social Media Manager from Sigma Aldrich, and she will be presenting "Leveraging social media for your research".

Also on Monday March 21st G. Steven Burrill will be speaking at 2PM EST on the topic of "Biotech 2011 Life Sciences: Looking Back to See Ahead". Steven Burrill the CEO of Burrill & Company, has been involved in the growth and prosperity of the biotechnology industry for over 40 years. At 5PM EST that same day, Anne Slavotinek M.D. Ph.D., the Associate Professor from the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, Pediatrics will be presenting "Phenotypes Associated with Eye Developmental Genes".

On Tuesday March 22nd at 2PM EST James McGaugh Ph.D., a Research Professor for Neurobiology and Behavior from the University of California, Irvine and School of Biological Sciences will be speaking on the topic of "Stress Hormones, Brain System Activation and the Creation of Lasting Memories". As the researcher who first discovered and began a project to study the phenomenon of near-endless memory, called "Superior Autobiographical Memory," Dr. McGaugh was featured on an episode of CBS 60 Minutes, aired on December 19, 2010. Later that day at 4PM EST, Greg Feero M.D. Ph.D., the Special Advisor to the Director for Genomic Medicine at the National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health will be presenting "From base pairs to the bedside: charting a course for the next decade of genomics research".
