Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) March 4, 2011
The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, http://www.thecentertx.com, is among only 23 groups of cancer treatment physicians in the nation, recognized in the past twelve months, as meeting the strict standards of the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program. QOPI was created in 2010, as an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). ASCO is the world's leading professional organization representing cancer specialists.
"This recognition is one more way we can assure our patients and their families of our commitment to providing them with the finest cancer services. We strive to be among the top cancer treatment centers in Fort Worth and in the nation," said Ray Page, D.O., Ph.D., president of The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
"Increasingly educated patients and families demand accountability and the highest standards from cancer care providers," said Douglas W. Blayney, MD, immediate past president of ASCO. "The QOPI certification will allow oncologists in the community to be at the forefront of cancer care, and to be recognized for their quality."
QOPI analyzes cancer specialists' data and compares these to more than 80 measures of quality treatment. This information is shared among the physicians for identifying areas of improvement.
