3DS Users Group, an organization for owners and operators of 3D Systems Inc. equipment, today announced Carl Deckard, Todd Grimm and Greg Morris will be the keynote speakers to address conference attendees in Miami, Florida. This years’ conference runs April 3-7, 2011, with the keynote presentations scheduled on April 4.
- The History and Future of Laser Sintering
Dr. Carl Deckard invented Selective Laser Sintering with his colleagues at the University of Texas in Austin. The technology was patented in 1989 and originally sold by DTM Corporation, which was acquired by 3D Systems Inc. in 2001. Dr. Deckard is a well-respected inventor and Additive Manufacturing pioneer.
- Additive Manufacturing Industry’s Opportunities and Challenges
Todd Grimm, of T.A. Grimm & Associates, Inc., is an author, speaker and industry advisor. He frequently writes articles for trade magazines such as Time-Compression Technologies. He has presented at dozens of events and has served as an advisor for the Society of Manufacturing Engineer’s Rapid Prototyping & Manufacturing conference.
- Additive Manufacturing of Metals as a Disruptive Technology
Greg Morris, of Morris Technologies, Inc., has contributed to various articles in different trade magazines about the benefits of DMLS and its application in rapid manufacturing environments. He is the principal and COO of MTI, a product development company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a leading edge pioneer as an early adopter of Metal Additive Manufacturing technologies, as well as, a long-time user of Stereolithography.
“We are pleased to have such a diverse and impressive lineup of technical presentations for Stereolithography and the Laser Sintering of polymers and metals at the conference this year,” said 3DSUG chairperson Tim Gornet. “The training and break-out discussions surrounding 3D printers, metals and laser-based photopolymer systems is second to none.”
Traditionally invitations to the 3DS Users Group Conference were reserved exclusively for owners and operators of 3D Systems, Inc. equipment. 3D Systems is a leading provider of 3D content-to-print solutions including 3D printers, parts and production systems. This year, owners and operators of Objet Geometries Ltd and EOS Electro Optical Systems GmbH are invited to attend.
Innovation leader in 3D printing for rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing, Objet, provides 3-dimensional printing systems that enable manufacturers and industrial designers to reduce cost of product development and dramatically shorten time-to-market of new products. EOS is a world-leading manufacturing of laser-sintering systems. Laser Sintering is the key technology for e-Manufacturing, the fast, flexible and cost-effective production of products, patterns and tools.
“We welcome both Objet and EOS companies and their users to the conference this year,” Gornet added. “These industry-leaders will bring a wealth of knowledge about equipment many designers and manufacturers have added to their lineup of rapid prototyping and Additive Manufacturing technologies.”
This invitation to the 3DS Users Group Conference also includes eligibility for Objet and EOS users to compete in the Advanced Concepts and Advanced Finishing Technical Competitions. Entries will be displayed during the two-day Vendor Fair and winning entries announced at the Awards Banquet.
