Proximic, an innovator of rich precision data for digital media traders, today announced that Jon Mandel has been appointed Chairman of the Board. Mandel brings over 30 years of industry experience and knowledge in the investment, communications, and advertising media industries to Proximic.

In his role as Chairman of the Board of Proximic, Jon Mandel is responsible for advising the company’s growth strategy and overall direction. Mandel will collaborate closely with Proximic’s management team on all strategic and growth aspects of the company. Combining Mr. Mandel’s extensive advertising and marketing data knowledge with Proximic’s expertise around Contextual, Audience Interest, and Brand Safety Data solutions, the company is well positioned for a phase of exciting growth in one of the fastest developing segments in the advertising media space.

Mr. Mandel is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Citadel Broadcasting. Prior to Citadel Broadcasting, Mandel was CEO at NielsenConnect a subsidiary of The Nielsen Company where he successfully led efforts to mesh data from Nielsen’s vast ratings information with consumer behavior. Before NielsenConnect, Mandel had a successful tenure at Grey Global Group where he not only oversaw the startup of the first online only media agency (media.com), but was also one of the leaders in the establishment of the MediaCom Worldwide, Inc. Under his leadership MediaCom grew to the point where he was responsible for the strategy and placement of over $22 billion of media spend annually. While at MediaCom, Mandel held several key leadership roles including: Chairman, Chief Global Buying Officer, and Co-Chief Executive Officer of MediaCom Latino. As part of the executive team responsible for the successful acquisition of Grey by WPP, he transitioned into the Chief of Strategic Solutions role within WPP’s GroupM consortium.

Mr. Mandel also currently serves as a director of eXelate, Indoor Direct, the International Radio and Television Foundation, John A. Reisenbach Foundation, and the New York chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He has also received numerous industry recognitions including: First agency and media person elected chairman of NATPE and board director of AAAA, awarded the Advertising Age Media Maven and AdWeek Media AllStar awards, and was honored as The Man of the Year for both the Juvenile Diabetes and John A. Reisenbach Foundations.
