John Svoboda was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) during the CICA’s International Conference this week in Tucson, Arizona.
John is President of National Home Insurance Company (A Risk Retention Group) (NHIC) and Residential Insurance Company, Inc., A Risk Retention Group (RIC). NHIC and RIC provide liability insurance to their 7,500 plus builder members. John joined NHIC and RIC in 2000 after four years in London as Claims Director with Claims Management Group Limited (CMGL), a specialist claims management administrator serving the London market, self insureds, captives and the traditional insurance market. Prior to CMGL, John worked in various management capacities for Risk Enterprise Management, Home Insurance Company, Continental Western Insurance Company, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from St. Cloud State University and holds the professional designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Associate in Claims (AIC).
In addition to Svoboda, the CICA Board of Directors elected Dirk Heim, Vice President of Sierra Land Group, Inc., in Glendale, California as Vice-Chair, and Ian Kilpatrick, President of Chesapeake Bay Insurance Company, as Secretary/Treasurer.
CICA is an international association for the captive insurance industry and was founded in 1972 by professional risk managers. CICA represents hundreds of captive insurance companies, risk retention groups, and related organizations from more than 30 jurisdictions throughout the world.
