Michael Breshgold, the USA Sales Manager for the asthma & allergy friendly™ Certification Program, will be attending the 2011 International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago from March 6-8. The annual show is one of the largest gatherings in the world with attendees from around the globe exhibiting and discussing issues effecting the manufacturers and retailers in the home and Housewares marketplace. Attendance this year is expected to exceed 60,000. There are an estimated 2100 companies displaying at the event this year.

“I am extremely proud to be attending this event to represent our Certification Program which has played an important role in fostering product quality improvements in over 10 different home categories that benefit millions of people with asthma and allergies,” said Breshgold. “In fact, we are currently working with a number of companies at this year’s show that have or will be soon awarded our Certification Mark in areas as diverse as air cleaners, and vacuum cleaners to flooring and washing machines.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), in partnership with Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), develops and uses independent standards for testing a wide range of products from worldwide manufacturers to determine their suitability for families living with asthma and allergies. The asthma & allergy friendly™ Certification Program has already established standards and protocols for 14 different product types over the past 5 years, and continues to produce more. Visit http://www.aafa.org/certified for a full list of standards and protocol abstracts.

“Advancing the cause to create healthier indoor air is what drives us daily,” said ASL’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. John McKeon. “We’re very pleased to be attending the Home and Housewares Show as the key to the growing number of consumer product manufacturers that are leading the way in this responsible effort. Now more than ever, as homes are sealed to maximize energy efficiency, it’s critical that the products we use are optimized to create the healthiest indoor air environments possible.”

Products bearing the Certification Mark prove that their products have undergone rigorous testing to determine their suitability for people with asthma and related allergies, to help reduce their exposure to indoor allergens and irritants – a critical quality-of-life issue for asthma and allergy patients.
