The Lube Stop, Inc. (Lube Stop), Northeast Ohio’s largest quick oil change company, today announced it has partnered with the National Ground Water Association and the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) for the fifth year to promote National Ground Water Awareness Week from March 6 through March 12. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, used oil from one oil change can contaminate up to 1 million gallons of water.

By changing customers’ oil and by accepting do-it-yourself motor oil at all of its locations, Lube Stop prevents over four hundred thousand gallons of waste oil from polluting Northeast Ohio’s streams, rivers and lakes each year. During the event, AOCA members, including Lube Stop, will issue press releases announcing Ground Water Awareness Week, making customers aware of the important role they play in protecting the environment.

“Since 2006, Lube Stop has partnered with National Ground Water Association and the AOCA to promote this event,” said Tom Morley, president at Lube Stop. “Ground Water Awareness Week helps generate awareness around the huge impact motor oil can have on the environment and was one of the first initiatives we launched as we developed a sustainability program for the company.”

For people in need of an oil change, March 6 - 12 is a great week to have it done. Lube Stop customers can protect their vehicle and learn more about protecting the environment at the same time.
