“The Harvard/Henley Global Real Estate Sustainability program will make the economic case for sustainable development and retrofitting,” says program co-chair and Henley professor Andrew Baum.

Offered for the first time this spring, the Global Real Estate Sustainability program helps global real estate executives develop environmentally responsible and sustainable real estate strategies. A joint program between Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) and the University of Reading Henley Business School (Henley), this unique executive education offering will run from May 9 to 12, 2011 on Henley’s UK campus, with the second module taking place on Harvard’s campus from May 7 to 10, 2012.

Faced with escalating energy costs and dwindling natural resources, real estate leaders are under enormous pressure to reduce environmental impact and implement responsible business practices. “Whether you believe it or not, you need to know why,” says program co-chair and economist Ray Torto of CBRE. “What are the economics of sustainable projects relative to the ‘old way’?”

“The Harvard/Henley Global Real Estate Sustainability program will make the economic case for sustainable development and retrofitting,” says program co-chair and Henley professor Andrew Baum. “Offering a unique combination of European and North American expertise, this forum will examine sustainability from business and design perspectives—providing participants with a portfolio of global best practices that they can implement within their own organizations.”

Specifically designed for senior executives, partners, project managers, and aspiring thought leaders who work in real estate investment, development, management, and occupation, this innovative real estate program will be taught by renowned faculty members from Harvard GSD and Henley, as well as an impressive roster of scholars, practitioners, and industry leaders from around the world.
