App Helps Businesses Survive Fuel Price Increases

Trucking Advantage releases smart phone application to calculate fuel surcharges, as diesel prices rise fifteen cents per gallon since last week.

The price of diesel fuel has exceeded $4.00 per gallon in many parts of the United States, up fifteen cents from last week. As businesses struggle to cope with drastic daily price increases, some companies are turning to smart phone apps to help offset their costs. PocketFuelCal, a fuel surcharge calculator application created by Trucking Advantage, helps truckers, shippers, and business travelers calculate fuel expenses via their iPhone™ or iOS device.

“Many trucking companies calculate rates on a per-mile or flat-rate basis,” explains creator Zach Womack. “PocketFuelCal gives both truckers and shippers a reliable method to determine the actual cost of the fuel price increase based on the distance of the trip and the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.”

In addition to fuel surcharges, the app calculates the total fuel expense of a trip, the cost of fuel price increases from a given time period, and is useful to cross-border trucking companies and international users by incorporating kilometer and liter settings as well as miles and gallons. PocketFuelCal is currently available on the App Store℠ worldwide.
