Students enrolled in school-banking program compete to illustrate their saving dreams.

Beginning February 28th, student savers from Washington to Texas and California to New Hampshire will compete in the “I’m Saving” T-shirt Design Contest to inspire classmates and others that saving is a basic skill any child can develop. Through saving, students also learn financial responsibility and develop an appreciation for work.

Participating banks and credit unions such as Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank of MA, Titonka Savings Bank of IA and The People’s Bank of MS will announce their winning entries on April 1st in celebration of April—National Financial Literacy Month. “The self-confidence a child gains by building their own assets through saving is a powerful motivator. Harnessing that power to inspire other young people is what the contest is about, said School Savings President Cinnimin Avena.”

To participate, students simply submit a t-shirt design on the entry form that includes the words: "I'm Saving…." The design should illustrate 'How I'm Saving', 'Why I'm Saving', or 'What I'm Saving for'.

Co-sponsors, Save For America and SCHOOLSAVINGS.COM will name the national Grand, First and Second prize winners on April 6th, 2011. The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $150 gift certificate.
