Edward Professional Advisors (http://www.edwardprofessionaladvisors.com) is pleased to announce that Coach Paul Edward, PhD, has been awarded one of the two inaugural Fellowships in Positive Organizational Psychology at Patton State Hospital. Coach Paul will be working with the staff at Patton State Hospital to help the hospital achieve its goal of becoming a "Positive Institution." A Positive Institution is an organization that embraces and uses the tools of positive organizational psychology to create a workplace in which the focus on employee and organizational strengths and virtues allows the institution to thrive.

"I'm very excited about this new opportunity," said Coach Paul, "I am honored to be named as one of the first fellows in the program and am looking forward to working with the Assistant Medical Director at Patton, Dr. Kulkarni, and all of the wonderful professionals there. I've been an advocate and practitioner of positive psychology at both the individual and organizational levels for several years now, so I'm confident that we'll be able to help Patton achieve its goal of making the hospital a better place for staff, patients, and even their families."

Unlike traditional organizational consulting, which focuses on what organizations are doing wrong and proposes solutions to fix those problems, positive organizational psychology builds on the strengths of an organization and its employees. "Research shows that the positive organizational psychology approach can often be more effective in both the short- and long-terms," said Edward, "People often confuse our approach with positive thinking, which is a completely inaccurate view of positive organizational psychology. What we do is begin with what is working, what organizations are doing right. This leads to more innovative and creative solutions and creates an atmosphere where the staff really gets engaged in improving the organization."

Coach Paul is the managing advisor of Edward Professional Advisors and a recognized expert in personal and organizational development. He is the author of the award-winning book, "Moving Forward: Turning Good Intentions Into Great Results."
