Boston based author, Tom Weston, moves into the Director’s chair for the animated version of his short story, “There Be Monsters!”

“There Be Monsters!” has been selected to show at the 2011 Boston International Film Festival (http://www.bifilmfestival.com/). As part of the Festival, the nine-minute film will have its World Premier on April 16th at AMC/Loews Theater, 175 Tremont St. in Boston, before it moves on to other Festivals, such as the 2011 Edgemar Short Film Festival (http://www.edgemarcenter.org/events/filmfestival) in Santa Monica, California and the 2011 WorldKids International Film Festival (http://www.worldkidsfoundation.com/) in Mumbai, India.

First published as a short story in July 2009, the story tells of four friends who leave the safety of their village to conquer a mountain. At every stop along the way, they are warned about the monsters that lay ahead; and as they proceed, the four friends will each have to decide for themselves where their real quest lays . . . monsters notwithstanding.

Worldkids Festival Director, Manju Singh described the film as “… one of the most positive, uplifting and sensitive films I have seen in a long, long time."

Weston produced “There Be Monsters!” through his company, tom weston media, using the music of composer Hannah Sheehan for the soundtrack and the narration of voice-over artist Tony Impieri.
