New West Festival Seeks Entrepreneurs for VC Pitch Session May 6th in Missoula, Montana

New West, a next generation digital media guide to news, analysis and culture for the Rocky Mountain region, announces a general call for current or budding entrepreneurs to participate in an informal VC "pitch session" at the May 5th and 6th New West Festival titled "The Rise of the Rockies". "This is a great opportunity for current or future business leaders to hone their skills pitching to major venture capital firms who actively seek new business ventures in the Rocky Mountain West," said Lynn Ingham, CEO of New West.

In conjunction with the New West Festival, a team of venture capital and angel investors, led by Trevor Loy of Flywheel Ventures in New Mexico, will hear presentations from a small group of entrepreneurs whose business plans or presentations are chosen to be heard.

"This is a great opportunity for current or future business leaders to hone their skills pitching to major venture capital firms who actively seek new business ventures in the Rocky Mountain West," said Lynn Ingham, CEO of New West.

Entrepreneurs who want to participate should send an executive summary and/or a business plan to conferences(at)newwest(dot)net with the words "VC Pitch Session" as the headline. Those chosen to present will be notified at least two weeks prior to the Festival with further instructions on how to prepare.

The New West Festival begins Thursday evening, May 5th, with an opening cocktail registration at the celebrated Missoula Museum of Art. The opening cocktail reception (with catered local foods) features current contemporary museum artists and the Alpine Artisans, as well as a short talk by one of the lead architects for the award-winning museum itself. The recently-renovated building seamlessly fuses the 100-year-old Carnegie Library building with a beautiful contemporary design.

A partial list of topics and speakers in the Friday sessions:

  •     Entrepreneurism and Venture Investing – Trevor Loy is a general partner at Flywheel Ventures with more than 15 years of venture investing, entrepreneurial and operating experience in technology ventures.
  •     Farming and Food – Ken Meter is one of the most experienced food system analysts in the United States, integrating market analysis, business development, systems thinking and social concerns.
  •     Digital Branding – Jim Nichols is the chief strategist and senior partner at Catalyst S+F, and he has spent the past 13 years developing digital strategies for companies looking to grow their brands and drive sales online.
