Spring, Texas based Monico, Inc. is listed among the 100 fastest growing companies in the world via Texas A&M’s Aggie 100 program.
The award, bestowed at the annual Aggie 100 luncheon in College Station, TX requires that a business be Aggie owned or led and is chosen via calculations by the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship of Texas A&M’s Mays Business School. Of the 100 companies recognized in 2010, Monico ranked 6th with its compounded annual growth rate of 93%.
Monico, owned by Texas A&M graduates Doyle Taylor (class of 1982), and his wife Karen Taylor (class of 1984) specializes in providing monitoring solutions for industrial engine communications.
“When we bought the company, sales were flat. Since then we have designed and launched a new product, the CDL Gateway, and more than quadrupled our sales,” says Taylor, “My years in the A&M Industrial Distribution program gave me valuable background and a sturdy work ethic. It feels good to be recognized by the university for the hard work we have done at Monico.”
Monico has no intentions of slowing its growth. With plans to further extend into the European and Middle Eastern markets, the introduction of a new product geared toward data centers, the fleet wide roll out of orders for a prominent natural gas and drilling contractor, and the hiring of more staff to handle the work load- look for more news of significant growth to come.
“The first quarter of 2011 was substantial for us, and the rest of the year is shaping up to be even better,” notes Taylor.
