Trawler Fest, a celebration of the cruising-under-power lifestyle, will take place May 12-14 at the Cap Sante Boat Haven in Anacortes, WA. Boat show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Trawler Fest is produced by PassageMaker Magazine, a division of Dominion Enterprises.
Boat Show: In its 16th year, Trawler Fest is the premier cruising event serving the boating community. More than 60 exhibitors will be present showcasing a variety of essential boating products, services, and accessories, and 70 boats will be on display for boarding.
Educational Experience: For attendees interested in furthering their knowledge and skills, a first class line-up of seminars will be offered at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. daily. Seminar topics and titles will include “Confessions of a Galley Slave,” “Practical Considerations for Spare-Parts Outfitting,” anchoring and cruising Alaska. Additionally, there will be valuable hands-on activities each afternoon that are included in the $15 general admission price. Afternoon activities will include an engine room field excursion with Steve D’Antonio, a rescue line toss contest, and presentations on emergency locator beacons and global search and rescue.
Trawler Fest University will precede the boat show on May 10 and 11. The University offers a variety of two-day courses that allow students to take a hands-on, in-depth look at specific boating topics. All University courses are accredited by the United States Power Squadrons. Students who successfully complete courses earn credits toward their U.S.P.S. Boat Operator Certification.
Rendezvous: Both Thursday and Friday evening will feature a cocktail reception and dinner. There will be fun, exciting programs like Trivia Night and a “Trawler Fest Treasure Island”-themed scavenger hunt. On Saturday evening, participants will enjoy a cocktail reception at Cap Sante Boat Haven, followed by the presentation of the People’s Choice Award, a prestigious honor awarded to the boat selected by attendees as their favorite in the show.
Location: Anacortes, the gateway to the beautiful San Juan Islands, has been a cruisers’ paradise for years. Located on Fidalgo Island, it is conveniently situated halfway between Seattle and Vancouver BC. Anacortes is a jumping-off point for cruising the San Juans as well as a stop on the international ferry runs for Washington State. Enjoy casual cafes and elegant dining, unique shops and art galleries, whale-watching tours, kayaking excursions, boating, fishing, crabbing, hiking, and biking while visiting.
Trawler Fest is a wonderful opportunity for both novice and seasoned boaters to hone their skills and visit with fellow cruisers.
