San Francisco (PRWEB) March 13, 2011
Give2Asia, a US-based public charity promoting transformative philanthropy for Asia, announces today the launch of its fund to help survivors of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
The Give2Asia Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Fund is accepting contributions to support immediate relief and short-term to long-term recovery projects undertaken by the affected communities. We are working with our local advisors based in Tokyo to assess the current situation and to obtain more information on the needs of survivors.
Donations to the fund can be made online by visiting http://www.give2asia.org/japantsunami-2011. Give2Asia will also be posting updated information on this page with details of specific projects and needs.
Give2Asia combines exceptional stewardship with comprehensive, on-the-ground knowledge to promote actions benefiting Asian communities. In times of disaster, Give2Asia funds local charitable groups working within affected communities. Give2Asia has worked with over 52 corporations and over 20 foundations to support relief and recovery projects for 22 disasters across Asia. For example, following the 2008 earthquake in China's Sichuan Province, Give2Asia raised US$ 16.9 million in aid for survivors. Give2Asia also partners with corporations to create matching gift programs that maximize the charitable intentions of employees wishing to support disaster response efforts in Asia.
