In a letter to the Prime Minister of Japan Naoto Kan, the Prime Minister of Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran expressed heartfelt condolences for the deaths and suffering caused by the devastating earth quake and tsunami that struck Japan on March 11th.

"People of Tamil Eelam's thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan, especially with the families of the victims and all those affected by this disaster. We are confident that you will overcome this mammoth tragedy. We stand with you in your time of sorrow" said Rudrakumaran in that letter.
"We understand the pain of loosing lives as it was our experience in the 2004 Tsunami, decades of military aggression by the Sri Lankan security forces and race riots" he further added. "We remember with gratitude the generous support provided to by the Government of Japan and the Japanese people during times of difficulty faced by Eelam Tamils.
