Plainfield, NJ (PRWEB) March 16, 2011

The Newmark Schools announce the launch of the innovative Teacher Training Institute which now offers school districts more extensive training to better accommodate the needs of the behaviorally challenged students within their own district. As leaders working with children with behavioral disorders, the Newmark Schools are dedicated to training other professionals by using the schools’ successful teaching model: a systematic behavior modification program and school-wide social thinking curriculum.

The Teacher Training Institute is designed specifically so that teachers and paraprofessionals can learn Newmark’s proven methods for educating children with behavioral disorders by directly observing highly skilled teaching professionals actively shape student behaviors in the classroom. Participants also get insight into the mental health issues affecting students in today’s classroom, and a comprehensive web-based, follow-up training resource designed for busy educators. Recent training participants include Scotch Plains, Edison, Bound Brook, Warren, and Roselle school districts in New Jersey.

Why Newmark? Newmark School (K-8), located in Plainfield, NJ, and Newmark High School, located in Carteret, NJ, specialize in educating students with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders including High Functioning Autism, ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Asperger's Syndrome, Bipolar, PPD-NOS, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Sensory Integration Disorder. “We really understand the myriad mental health challenges these students face and how they benefit in a highly structured behavior modification program. Our goal is to help teachers in all schools have access to our successful strategies,” commented Cynthia Allman, Co-Executive Director.

Seminars are generally run over the course of 4-6 sessions and are customized for individual school districts. The Institute’s Educator outreach series, “Shaping Student Behavior for Life Seminar,” is designed to train educators on the mental health issues they often encounter in a classroom setting and to learn successful strategies for effectively minimizing undesirable behavior while encouraging more positive behavior and social skills. Consultation services are also available for teachers and administrators to develop an in-district class for children with behavioral disabilities.
