Greenopia announced today that it has updated the green industry's most comprehensive ratings for fast food restaurants. Available on its popular website, the fast food ratings use Greenopia's 4-Leaf rating system to disclose the environmental impact and healthy dining characteristics of over 20 of America's most popular restaurant chains.

The greenest overall fast food chain for the third straight year was Pizza Fusion, based in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Other chains that received Greenopia’s highest score of 4 out of 4 green leafs were Le Pain Quotidien and EVOS.

This was an independent study conducted by Greenopia's Research Staff using an extended list of test criteria including green building design initiatives, supply chain management, and products served, among others. The criteria data were gathered, calculated, and analyzed using Greenopia's proprietary lifecycle eco-cost methodology.

”It’s often hard to completely avoid frequenting fast food restaurants given their convenience and low cost,” said Gay Browne, Founder of Greenopia. “We felt that completing such an analysis would be valuable to millions of consumers trying to make greener and healthier choices.”

Sales leader, McDonald’s showed substantial improvement from last year, receiving its second green leaf, making it one of the top performing major chains.

”Many consumers are surprised to see McDonald’s receive such a high score in our analysis,” says Doug Mazeffa, Greenopia’s Research Director. “Given their gigantic supply chain, what they have accomplished thus far is extremely impressive."

Greenopia employs its award-winning eco-analysis method to deliver actionable green-assessments to the rapidly growing green consumer market. Green businesses and merchants use Greenopia's targeted marketing methods to effectively reach consumers making greener choices.
