iXsystems is proud to announce it is collaborating with server-deployed memory innovator Fusion-io to introduce the Titan FreeNAS Pro Appliance.
Fusion-io provides a next generation storage memory platform for data decentralization that significantly improves processing capabilities within a datacenter by relocating process-critical data from centralized storage to the server where it is being processed.
"We are pleased to work with iXsystems to bring ioMemory technology to the Titan FreeNAS Pro Appliance," said Tyler Smith, Vice President of Alliances for Fusion-io. "We believe collaboration with innovative companies like iXsystems provides a very exciting way to help improve overall performance in Network-Attached Storage environments while assisting our global client base in reducing Data Center sprawl."
The addition of server-deployed ioMemory technology to the Titan FreeNAS Pro Appliance creates a storage server that utilizes non-volatile memory to significantly increase data center efficiency and offer enterprise grade reliability, availability and manageability, with potential performance improvements of up to 10x.
The Titan FreeNAS Pro with Fusion's ioMemory technology has the ability to fully saturate multiple 10Gb Ethernet connections, full ZFS support, and a host of software and hardware features.
"We are pleased to announce we are collaborating with Fusion-io to deliver this revolutionary high-performance storage solution," says Matt Olander, CTO of iXsystems. "Now more than ever, FreeNAS is the ideal solution for users looking for a NAS server with incredibly fast access and emphasis on usability."
All iXsystems Titan Storage Servers now support the full range of ioMemory technology from Fusion-io -- making them the first and only FreeBSD-based servers to offer this level of storage and network access performance.
The Titan FreeNAS Pro Appliance is a FreeBSD-based Network-Attached Storage (NAS) appliance based on the ZFS filesystem and designed to support all popular networking protocols, including CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FTP, SMB, and AFP, all while retaining a very small footprint.
The Titan FreeNAS Pro is completely optimized to make the best use of these add-on cards. When paired with optional Chelsio 10G Ethernet Adapters, the FreeNAS Pro with Fusion-io cards supports multiple 10 Gigabit connections, offering improved performance in any system requiring quick or constant data transfer between systems.
FreeNAS 8 includes enhanced ZFS support that delivers enterprise filesystem performance and management, Thin Provisioning, unlimited system snapshots, uncompromising data integrity, remote replication for disaster-recovery (DR) backups, and practically limitless capacity. FreeNAS 8 is based entirely on FreeBSD 8.2, and has been rewritten from the ground up for additional standards compliance and compatibility with current and future releases of FreeBSD.
All of these features are easily managed from an intuitive, easy-to-use web interface, and all Titan FreeNAS Pro systems are available with iXsystems' Enterprise-Class Support.
The Titan Storage Servers support the following Fusion-io cards:
