Former United States Congressman and college football great J.C. Watts will be the featured speaker at the 9th Annual BoardDocs® eGovernance Workshop, held September 15 – 16, 2011 in Park City, UT. BoardDocs, the eGovernance pioneer, is the world leader in paperless governance solutions.
Watts, who was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1994, served eight years in Washington D.C. representing the fourth district of Oklahoma. A highly regarded member of congress, Watts was elected by his peers to serve as chairman of the Republican Conference. In this capacity, Watts provided daily counsel to the Speaker of the House, and participated in bi-weekly meetings with the President of the United States.
A two-time Orange Bowl MVP, Watts was the University of Oklahoma’s heralded quarterback. In 1991, Watts was named to the Orange Bowl’s Hall of Fame. Following his playing career, he worked as a Baptist minister before being elected to congress.
Today, Watts is the chairman of the J.C. Watts Companies, headquartered in Washington, DC. He advises several major companies, including John Deere and NASCAR and serves on the board of Directors of Dillard’s. Watts has successfully worked on major civil rights issues to ensure voting rights and alleviate global poverty and HIV/AIDS in Africa and elsewhere as the co-founder of the Coalition for AIDS Relief in Africa and board member of Africare. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
