In an effort to create a web application that replicated a long-time favorite creative writing game, the founders of Strong Street, LLC have come together to produce FoldingStory.
FoldingStory is an online game in which users write a line of a story on a virtual piece of paper, “fold” the paper, and pass it to the next user. The next user repeats the process until the story is finished. Each user has to think fast, since a line must be entered within the time limit in order for it to be included in the story.
“This is more than just a game for some people,” said Strong Street CEO Geoff Kravitz, “We used to go through this process when writing song lyrics in our high school band, and the results were more creative than we ever imagined. We think that not only can this application be used for entertainment, but perhaps as an effective creative writing exercise as well.”
In a recent article from ReadWriteWeb, author Audrey Watters explains the simplicity of the concept: "To participate in FoldingStory is almost as easy as the childhood game made it: simply write your sentence or two, then 'fold and pass.' "
Users also have the ability to follow other users via the site’s own internal social networking features, and can compete with others on the site for the best peer-reviewed story lines.
FoldingStory can be found online at http://www.foldingstory.com, where users can sign up and begin contributing to over 1,000 user-generated stories right away.
