According to Exceptional Limo Service, the activities, events and large influx of visitors and celebrities to the city for the rapidly approaching 2011 JUNO week will benefit businesses in the city of Toronto, particularity those in the hospitality and services sector like hotels, restaurants, beauty salons, personal security, toronto limousines and chauffer services.

The 2011 JUNO awards, recognizing excellence in Canadian music, will be held in Toronto on March 27, 2011. Leading up to awards night, a week-long serious of high profile events have been planned throughout the city in association with the JUNOS. Those in Toronto’s hospitality and service industries couldn’t be happier. “With so many people in town for the JUNOs we have been busier than usual, states Moe Bashi, owner of Exceptional Limo Service (http://www.exceptionallimo.com), a Toronto limo service company that serves many high profile and celebrity customers. “Thanks to the JUNOS, more people will be requiring our services, including airport limousine pick up and chauffeur services,” says Bashi.

According to Exceptional Limo Service, the awards ceremony, and multiple related events leading up to it, will have a significant impact on Toronto businesses. It is anticipated that the economic benefit of JUNO week will be approximately $15 million. Those who stand the most to gain are Toronto hotels, restaurants, and personal services providers, like beauty salons and Toronto chauffeur and limousine service companies.

Since 1996, JUNO organizers have chosen a different Canadian city to host the awards ceremony, which got its start in Toronto; the heart of Canada’s music industry. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the JUNO Awards. With its return to Toronto, the JUNO awards are bigger and better than ever. They have grown from a small awards evening into an all-week celebration that takes place in multiple venues across the city. Music fans, celebrities, and music industry people from across Canada, and from around the world, have descended upon Toronto. Toronto hotels, restaurants, shops and services are reaping the benefits.

This year, JUNO week runs from March 21 through March 27, and culminates in the televised awards ceremony held at the Air Canada Centre. Kicking off the festivities, the Ontario Media Development Corporation hosted a celebrity-packed VIP luncheon in Toronto. Parallel events that promote the JUNOs include JUNO and Canadian music themed exhibits at The Art Gallery of Ontario, The Bata Shoe Museum and Canada Blooms. Roy Thomas Hall held a classical music event that showcased performances by past JUNO winners, including Measha Brueggergosman and the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. Many musical greats turned out for the Horseshoe Tavern’s “Tribute to the Decades” series, drawing capacity crowds of music lovers. On March 23, the JUNO Songwriters Circle was held at Massey Hall and featured many Canadian music legends. JUNO Fest, a two night event celebrating contemporary music will feature over 100 bands and artists performing at 20 venues. Other JUNO events include the JUNO Cup 2011 at the Ricoh Coliseum.

The economic benefits that major conventions and high profile events like the JUNOs, TIFF, and the upcoming 2015 Toronto Pan American Games, bring to the city of Toronto can’t be ignored. Visitors to the city spend money and each dollar spent has a ripple effect throughout the economy. As well, major events attract national and international media attention, which leads to increased tourism in the future.

“Whenever a major event happens in Toronto that involves celebrities, entertainers, dignitaries or VIPs, it is especially good for our business,” says Exceptional Limo Service’s Moe Bashi. “VIPs, celebrities and executives use many of the professional services that we provide, including limousine rentals, chauffeur services, bodyguards, security and protection services and private jet charters. While most of our customers are not celebrities, we do have many famous clients that hire us because of our reputation, like Lady Gaga, Sir Richard Branson, Kim Kardashian, Venus and Serena Williams, and Paris Hilton. High profile events like the JUNOs and Toronto International Film Festival, are not only good for businesses in Toronto, they showcase our city to the rest of the world,” adds Bashi.
