This year's show will feature some of the best work we've seen in years.
West Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) March 21, 2011
James Magni, the creator of the critically acclaimed line of hand crafted contemporary furniture known as the Magni Home Collection, will be unveiling his new line of modern lighting fixtures during this year's West Week. The premiere of the new line will be held at the Thomas Lavin showroom within the world-renowned Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, CA. Magni says he partnered with the Thomas Lavin showroom because "Thomas represents some of the most respected, forward thinking contemporary designers."
The new line lights consists of handcrafted glass, crystal, and bronze. Magni’s modern lights are works of art, each piece having the unique ability to illuminate both the electric and natural light within a room. Magni designed the lights to emanate a sense of positivity and radiance, literally "bringing light back into the world." Each piece is hand inspected, signed, and numbered by Magni himself. Currently, the line consists of 15 handcrafted pieces, but plans to expand the line have been put in place.
An example of Magni’s modern lighting design is found in his Newport Sconce, which like all Magni’s lights is handcrafted in Southern California. It features a hand blown glass cylinder shade with frosted glass stem supported by cast bronze brackets. The cast bronze backplate has a raised panel detail accentuated with a hand rubbed finish of natural bronze, silver patina bronze, brushed nickel, or oil rubbed bronze.
In the last few years, the art world has seen a rebirth in West Week, with some exceptional new designers and artists coming onto the scene. "This year's show will feature some of the best work we've seen in years," says Magni, who is excited to be an honorary participant in one of the most well known events of the design world.
The recognition that's been received in response to the debut of the new lighting line comes on the heels of another momentous occasion for this acclaimed designer. Magni's Jewel Coffee Table was used to complete the interior of one of the rooms of the White House. James subsequently received a letter from Michelle Obama, which expressed the First Lady's appreciation for the beautiful addition to the White House.
Like William Baldwin, Jean-Michel Frank, Christian Liagre, and many other acute visionaries of their time, James Magni was unable to find particular items for his immeasurable opulent projects. The designer created the Magni furniture collection in 1996. What began as a few pieces has successfully grown into a highly coveted ensemble like that of an expertly curated art collection. The iconic collection is exquisitely crafted using the world’s most luxurious fabrics, woods, metals and finishes resulting in the ultimate expression of modern elegance. The Magni Home Collection is seen in many private homes around the world and on the pages of Los Angeles Times, New York Times, The Robb Report, Town & Country and Architectural Digest.
