Island Hospital selects RQi enterprise™ and RQi pe™ (price estimator) revenue cycle solutions to eliminate errors at registration, provide accurate information for point of service collections, significantly reduce denials, and improve cash flow.

With the RQi suite, our organization will realize a significant decrease in payer denials and a substantial increase in cash flow.

Kramer Healthcare Technologies today announced that Island Hospital, in Anacortes, Washington, has selected RQi enterprise™ (Registration Quality Improvement) and RQi pe™ (price estimator) to provide denial management support.

The RQi suite of web-based revenue cycle solutions includes quality assurance to detect and flag registration errors through the point of billing. Simultaneously, it coaches the registration team to improve performance and price estimation, ensuring accurately calculated patient out of pocket and co-pay expenses at the point of service.

In order to improve their registration accuracy, as well as build positive community relations through improved customer service, Island Hospital decided to search for an automated tool that would assist its patient registrars. They sought a tool which would more accurately communicate and collect the patient obligation during registration. RQi enterprise™ was selected for its robust rule engine and its combination of batch and real-time error detection, as well as its ease of use, depth of editing, and comprehensive reporting capability.

“Prior to RQi all of our QA auditing was manual, limited and cumbersome, which meant feedback to and training for staff was sporadic and after-the-fact. With RQi enterprise™ automating 100 % review of our registrations my staff gets immediate feedback to manage their own errors, learn from them, and fix them, all before the bill is issued,” said Kay Steiner, Director of Patient Hospitality Services at Island Hospital.

Ms. Steiner continued, “With the RQi suite, our organization will realize a significant decrease in payer denials and a substantial increase in cash flow. In addition, there will be a positive impact on our community relations. With RQi pe™ our registrars will be able to quickly and accurately calculate and communicate patient out-of-pocket so there are no post-procedure surprises. This tool will efficiently estimate the out-of-pocket cost of a medical procedure, and it will be personalized for the patient by utilizing information from their own insurance company.”

During the evaluation process, Island Hospital grew interested in RQi enterprise™ because of its ability to create and track comprehensive rules through to point of billing. “However,” said Ms. Steiner, “our most important selection criteria were that our future QA partner needed to show diligence in understanding our registration needs. Out of all the products on the market today, RQi enterprise™ provides the best fit for our organization.”

RQi enterprise™ is a healthcare registration solution that detects and flags registration and patient visit errors for correction, both upon admission and prior to discharge and billing. The RQi™ service line provides 100% data review for improved billing accuracy, improved employee accountability, instinctive workflow, and immediate feedback to the user. Each system is customized onsite to ensure maximum performance and customer satisfaction.
