Dallas, GA (PRWEB) March 23, 2011
Riders traveled from all across the southeast to compete in the 2011 SEMRA season opener. The Kids were out in force, ready to demonstrate the skills they had been honing in the off season. Kyle Lowders, sponsored by Armadillo cycles, fought hard to keep pace with Josh Jovi in the Kids Expert class. After a bad start Kyle caught Josh and battled for the lead. Josh Jovi stayed in command. Kyle tucked the front tire exiting turn four. Josh took advantage of the incident and took 1st place. Josh Jovi, sponsored by Honda of Sumter, raced his NSR50 to third place in the F1 class. Bob Henderson, riding for Thumpstar, finished first. Walter Ferreya took second also on a NSR50.
The Kids were'nt the only ones battling hard. The Supermini class was the tightest race of the day. Early leader Nick Kosan was building a gap between himself and the rest of the field. With five racers running within inches of each other, second place rider Phillip King lost the rear exiting turn 10. Chris Kosan and Walter Ferreya, with nowhere to go, were also involved in the incident. This brought out the red flag on lap four. The riders took the grid again for the restart. Nick Kosan once again took the lead and never looked back. Phillip King had trouble with a front tire and could not run at race pace. Walter Ferreya, riding a Honda NSR50 was able to pull off a second place finish.Chris Kosan took third, followed by Kevin Wick in fourth. Phillip King, collecting valuable points, finished the race in fifth place.
